Poem with a Line by Lawrence Ferlinghetti

        A young girl runs
quick & greyly up from the ferry dock,
"Can I borrow a cigaret?"

& her breasts are breathless in
the little rain
               who
might again in somewhere standing
outside, looking in
                   &
she flirts off again
in the silly old rain

                   &
my soft nose still pressed
against the window pane
of life
            looking outside
            looking in
