love is
like souls merging
negotiated
madness
reversing
a vasectomy;
love
is not a PBS pledge drive,
bribing and cajoling,
powdered and toupeed.
long
as you linger
campaigning for entry
I'll sit,
guarding my goods
like a farm wife defending
the homestead,
with shotgun in lap.
