the living with children
walk among the
treading softly
stepping quickly through the crowd
nagging beggar doubts
grandmothers & wolves
pluck at our sleeves
we push past
trying our best to ignore them
wishing they would just go away
we dream our own endings
to the stories
only too well
what may
in every shadow

a previous version of "faith" appeared in the Spring/Summer 2002 Issue #66 of Homebase, Mothers Are Women, Ottawa, Ontario, Lisa Menard, Editor.
