Monday's Poem

Annie Clark photo

Kim Clark most often writes from the heart of western Canada's Sunshine Coast. Disease and desire, mothering, and the mundane propel her ongoing journey between poetry and prose. Kim has had work published in The Malahat Review, Portal, Ascent Aspirations, Artistry, Coffee Bean Shop, and The Coast Reporter, and has been a winner in six Capilano College, Cecilia Lamont, and Sechelt Library contests.

Playground on the Cusp of Spring

beads of snow in tufted
grass, rocks, sandpails

a cap on the gate, a trike
and father's canvas jacket

big boys tunnel barking
little girls' skirts screaming

laughter, voices swing up

a rope ladder, sunset clouds
shade car signs

one shoe under a streetlight
