Helen Baker is a Nanaimo native now living in North Vancouver. Her poems have been published in SubTerrain, Prism International, and Penumbra. Her haiku "the long road" won Best Canadian Poem in Haiku Invitational 2006 at the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. Her haiku "the sound of nothing" received honourable mention at the 2007 festival.

early morning

the cat's shadow


winter storm
the sky grows dark
with white geese
